Cricket Chirp

So many of us complicate life by attaching significant importance to the mundane, trivial occurrences that we are confronted with. There are those that seek to control the narrative of life to suit their purpose by manufacturing crisis’s and promoting them as dire situations we all need buy into with passion. The news media, Hollywood, big business, government, and organized religion are all guilty and proud of it. They claim they act in our best interest. Somewhere along the line it was determined that these entities know what is best for us and we are all ignorant sheep that must follow blindly without question.  The result of this mass manipulation is the unilateral distraction from our own intention and a collaborative focus on their agendas. In short this is tantamount to Mind Control.

Each of us are co-creators of this world with the task of using our imagination, desire, and intention to add beauty to our collective existence. When we turn our focus where directed by these entities of power, we compromise our contribution and end up creating from the intention of another. We all have talents and abilities that is incumbent upon us to utilize in our effort to co-create experience. Life is about joy, not pain. Pain is thrust upon us so we will alter our path to align with theirs. Take every step possible to be genuine with your intentions and authentic with your actions and you will be leaving your mark not theirs.

We are surrounded by beauty and exposed to the natural order of creation daily yet allow our focus to stray to the man-made crisis’s that feed the mass hysteria. The path of least resistance is always the most rewarding and usually effortless. We can tell when we are off trail by how difficult the ride is. When I go out on my bike, I stay on the black top. My Big Vic is not a dirt bike and will toss me around if I take the rocky road. I enjoy riding the smooth macadam.  One of the things I enjoy about riding in the country is that on the bike I am closer to the road and able to see more of nature and my surroundings. Beautiful landscapes are more vivid, I can appreciate well maintained properties that I pass, I can hear the birds and even sometimes hear the crickets chirping. Now in the city, with the clatter of traffic, the angry roar of road rage tirades, factories clanking and sirens screaming, it is difficult to hear the true sounds of natural life. Once we can tune out the external exposure, silence the manufactured outrage, and zero in on our inner voice, we will be able to hear those crickets hiding in the bushes, even in the nastiest urban setting. The NOISE is the distraction we must eliminate. The harmonic sound of nature is the sign of enlightened thinking. Once we have reached the level of focus where we hear nature and not clatter, we will be creating the life that has always been inside of us longing to manifest.

Set your filter to INTENTION, move your focus inward, block out the noise and listen for the chirp. It is always there.

The Tasks of Life

It is Sunday of Memorial Day weekend as I sit and write this piece. We call this weekend the “Unofficial” start of summer since meteorologicaly summer actually begins on the summer solstice, (Day with the longest stretch of sun) which this year is Friday June 21.

For me though, summer starts the very 1st day I determine that it is not going to snow again this season. You see, I live surrounded on 3 sides by woods, with a 500 foot driveway that has a huge hill that runs alongside that needs weeding and mulching. With the leaf clean up, twigs and branches, thatching, preening, and mulching the list of chores to get my property even halfway respectable is longer than my arm. Then there is the power washing, deck painting, gutter cleaning and planting. After all of that, I need to dig out my yard furniture, get that all cleaned, and then clean out the shed and garage. Of course I also need to clean and get the bike ready (to be looked at all the time with a maudlin sense of longing since I rarely get to ride it). This usually eats up every weekend until Memorial Day. The week AFTER Memorial Day I open the pool. So at the Rodgers Compound; Summer “goes live” the 1st week of June. By “Goes Live” I mean I am done working on it and can finally enjoy it. A rough estimate reveals it takes 3 months of weekends, to be ready for 3 months of summer. Then 3 months of Fall and 3 months of Winter undo everything. It is worth it though. I think I have it just about balanced.

Between this summer prep, my job, my pursuit of everything Positive, with the writing, posting, and planning, along with whatever side hustle I may be entertaining, volunteer work and family responsibilities, and taking care of the pooches, there is not very much time left to unwind and enjoy. Unless of course I can say that all of this IS JOY!

Being alive, having family to love, property to prep, and an opportunity to have some kind of impact on others is JOY! I can say the task of living is not work, drudgery or inconvenient. These things are what life is about.

Make no mistake though, I AM taking today off and going for a Bike ride with my lovely wife on the Vic, then attending the best Parade in CT tomorrow. No matter how much of phone pics 033this JOY I can take, a little down-time never hurts. Just about everything turns back on after you unplug it for a while. With some things, they even reboot and are better. The key is balance.

When the task of life becomes a chore, we need to reevaluate our priorities. In my Book “ 1ST Things 1st” I wrote about dreams and goals that can tend to eat up life and only offer a brief sense of satisfaction after many years of struggle.  If the goal robs us of a Perspectivelifetime of Joy for few minutes of satisfaction, we may have taken the wrong path to begin with.

Take a look at where you are going. Is the destination worth the price of the trip? Like I always say, The Journey is everything! There is no point heading ANYWHERE if the trip to get there sucks.

If you saw a Blue Victory Cross Country in the Litchfield Hills with a guy and his wife smiling on Memorial Day weekend, you may have driven passed me. I’m the guy that waves at everyone.

I hope everyone took some time to honor those that gave everything so we can have all of this. Make the best of life so their sacrifice was not in vein.

Things are not always as they appear

It is an important requirement for success, contentment and inner peace to seek only authentic people in our lives and to be genuine in all our projections and presentations.

When we adopt a false persona and don the mask of insecurity we sever the flow of life affirming grace from our core, denying our true self.

In like manner, knowing that things are not always as they appear, be cautious of those that are chameleon- like in their appearances. Those that present themselves to us as we would like to see them are generally deceptive and will always disappoint. We must embrace authenticity in all experiences to know success and peace.

Contribution Resolution

The spring is finally here. Things are turning green, and motorcycles are everywhere. Well, mine is still in the garage, but that’s another story. At least it is cleaned, buffed, fueled and ready to go when I find the time. Car shows popping up, the sound of burnouts and hot engines in the evening is all very comforting. This is a world I love to live in.

The world is a very diverse place. The things that I like may repulse another. We all take what pleases us and leave the rest behind. The most important thing though, is that we each CONTRIBUTE!

As we look around we see huge cities with glass, steel and concrete. Suburbs with back yards, pools and bike paths, country sides with corn fields and pastures, as well as every conceivable vehicle, invention, gadget & gizmo that makes up our life we should be in awe. We tend to take this all for granted. There is Liberal and conservative, rich, poor, homeless and uber wealthy, gay, straight, and every conceivable mix. Musicians, politicians, mechanics, lawn care specialists and people that will flush your colon. What a world!

Many take this for granted. Some never give it a thought and others may even complain about it. We all just agree that this is life. Have you ever asked how it got like this? Whether you love it, hate it, or plain don’t give a hoot, I’m sure you wonder.

I’ll tell you. You did it! I helped. We all pitched in. You see, life has been conceived, planned, and executed in the minds of all who live now and those that came before us. Whether we like it or not what we see is a collaborative effort by EVERONE.

Now the concerning part is that so many complain and chastise what they see It seems at though many feel that they are victims of a life they had no choice in. It is easy to sit in your comfy chair and point the finger of blame while lamenting your agony of persecution. The real challenge, and flavor of life, is to DO SOMETHING.

In so much as everything we see was 1st someone’s thought, then the product of their action and conviction, we all have the same ability to create, regardless of our “Place” in life. Everyone can think, plan and act, so we should all be living our dream, NO?

Life is best when we all contribute our 2 cents. The diversity and flavor is richer when all perspectives blend.

Let us start CONTRIBUTION REVOLUTION where we all create conditions with intent that are aligned with the life we prefer to see.

We all wonder is somebody is going to do something about what we see, forgetting that we are each that SOMEBODY!

The life we all desire and the one we experience often seem light years apart. There are a select few who can actually say they are living their dream. Most of us are living day to day in a reactionary-defense mode. We swat away at the myriad of undesirable conditions that confront us with tenacity and call it surviving. We do the best we can to accomplish our daily tasks, pay our bills to keep the boogeymen man away and mostly keep our head above water while struggling to squirrel a bit away for retirement. We do this while visions of an entirely different existence dance around our heads as a far off fantasy that only happens to others.

Then there are those that have “plans, dreams, goals” that drive them. Hell bent to “get there” they sacrifice peace, tranquility, security and many times the finest moments of life with family and friends, to chase the ever so elusive dream. These movers and shakers are going somewhere! Ninety five percent of them never get there. Perhaps half of them end up saddled in debt and riddled with disappointment from having the rug 382941_213983558683610_1787497124_npulled out from under them, while their feeling of self worth spirals downward into a pit of despair. Sure five percent “make it”. More than half of them gave up their formative years, family, friends, and memories along the way, but will bask in the glow of their achievement for a few short years.

In recent years there has been a whole new segment added to this mix, In 2006 a ground breaking book by Rhonda Byrne called; “The Secret” made a term coined many years ago by a few obscure, enlightened folk that were tuned into a higher level of insight than most , practically into a household term among anyone seeking motivation and self-improvement. This term is The Law of Attraction. What it is, is an in-depth analysis of what all religions and spiritual teachings call Faith! Simply put; what you believe, you receive, or as a man thinks, so shall he be, or. like conditions are drawn unto each other. This philosophy espouses that positive thoughts and belief, bring about,(or attract) imagesCA8MA9MEpositive conditions, and so is true for negative perspectives. The term was first coined in 1877 by a Russian occultist Helena Blavatsky, then made into a principle and used as a theory for success by Prentice Mulford in his essay, “Law of Success” in 1887. Shortly after that a whole host of New Thought guru’s, self-help authors and inspirational figures repeated the term in such well known best sellers as “ As a man thinketh, James Allen, Think & Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill, The Power of Positive Thinking, Norman Vincent Peale, and the list goes on. In the motivational- new thought arena, The Law of Attraction is the guiding principle behind living the life of your wildest dreams. The new cross section of movers & shakers are using The Law of Attraction, to elevate themselves into gods. I wholeheartedly believe in, and agree with, this philosophy. The premise is that anything you desire, you can have, as long as you truly BELIEVE IT, AND ALIGN YOUR THOUGHTS WITH IT AS REALITY.

As we sit, you can do a goggle search on this term and find over a million websites. One can attend seminars, download programs, buy recordings or even go on cruises and 3-10 day “Intensive Workshops” to learn to master the Law of Attraction to change your life. A person can spend from $79 to download a meditation CD to $20,000 for a face to face workshop with any one 10,000 “Experts” that will promise to help you harness this life changing power.

I have been a student of this “law” for many years. I am not rich, nor am I famous, fit, thin, popular or even completely satisfied with my life. I will however (with my dying breath) declare that The Law of Attraction works 100%, on 100% of us, 100% of the time. This law works without any effort. You see, as I have written before, the life we experience is directly related to our thoughts, feelings, but mostly our EXPECTATIONS.  Millions of folk are shelling out billions of $$ to learn to “use” a law that is immutable. We are all using it every day. What we think; we get! There is no way around it. This is Karma.

The problem we, (and I mean the millions of acolytes to The Law of Attraction) are experiencing, is that the term “believe” is deeper than we realize. Millions are reciting affirmations, listening to meditations, and even sleeping to subliminal audio that feeds the mind with positive reinforcement and visions of the goal, and/or desire. I can recite “I am rich, I am rich, I am rich” or any other term that aligns with my goal, until the cows come home, but until I believe it at my core, unequivocally as though it is already a reality, nothing will change. What I mean is this: let’s say you have been planning, img_3634working towards, taking all the actions for a goal, and you are asked: “Are you going to get this,,,,?” You will stand up and assertively announce: “FOR SURE”! But then if asked: “If you don’t get this, can I take your house, your family, and imprison you?” If you then say, “well,,, no!” Why not? I thought you believed you were going to accomplish this? That doubt is the dream killer! The word “believe” is a much deeper word than we know. The actual term should be modified to; “What you EXPECT is what you get.”

For me, I have dreams, I have goals and desires. I have a whole host of things I would love to be my reality that I have been working towards for years. I have spent thousands attempting to move in a direction. Don’t get me wrong, there are snippets of my desires that are real, just not the entire package as I have envisioned it. So why you ask am I a believer of this philosophy? I believe The Law of Attraction is working for me in accordance to my level of belief. At my core there is a feeling I have never been able to shake that equates the achievement of a lofty goal is tantamount to winning the lottery. img_3637-1While can say I believe, and I certainly feel I deserve, somewhere deep inside there is this anchor that has me feeling that to accomplish this is monumental and therefore to much to EXPECT. So here I sit. Alongside me are a few million others that do not understand that it is not easy to believe in a reality that we cannot feel in a visceral sense NOW. That is what creates the expectation. Everyone you see that has accomplished much has done so because their actions, motives, and progression toward their achievement had them expecting nothing less than what they got.

Yes, there are also gazillion books, programs, meditations and workshops to address this that are known as “Clearing” techniques. We need to clear out the negative programs from the past that hold us back.  The bottom line is: We are who we are, have what we have, get what we get; BECAUSE THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT WE EXPECT!  Change your     expecphone pics 033tation and you will change you manifestation. Fear begets awful experiences, so does doubt and negativity. Anything that elevates our thinking is a worthwhile activity. I ride my motorcycle to feel positive and free. It does not bring me to my best life, but it IS a part of my desired experience. That is one expectation I can handle.

So my positive message is as always. Think positive thoughts. Take positive actions. Avoid negativity and those that hold you down. Believe in your dreams and learn to come expect only the best.  Make sure your goals & desires are designed to service the common good. Realize that using your talent to have a positive impact on life will come back at you as rewards you cannot now imagine. With this as your philosophy, know that where you end up is where you expected to be.

Mark 9:2.  Everything is possible for one who has faith.

Mark 11: 24. What things so ever you desire, when you pray, believe that you have already received them, and you shall have them.

Not all of these individuals are actually incarcerated. Some of them are free. Perhaps not physically, but some are emotionally and spiritually free . The real shocking statistic is that about 40% of us are living our lives incarcerated in a self-imposed prison of anguish, despair, desperation and discontent. While those that are behind physical barriers due to their BOX 1inability follow the rules of society, they very well may be free in their minds, while the rest of us are in bondage to our own  destructive demons of doom.

Contrary to popular belief no one can take away your freedom. Sure they may limit or restrict your movements, but freedom is a mindset. The three hundred and twenty one unnamedmillion of us that are not physically restrained are in bondage to our negativity and cut off from peace, joy and well being with the key to our bars right in our hand.

Freedom is self acceptance,  inner peace, joy and the refusal to judge, blame, resent and hate. The average “free” person is shackled by one or more of those conditions and they are all self-inflicted and able to be eliminated in flash. When one knows real freedom the joy is evident in everything about them. Their health, finances, personality, demeanor and outlook is infectious and inspires others to want to be around them. Those that are are their own jailers, tend to repel others with every aspect of who they are, (lest the other is aligned, then the term ” misery loves company” is the prevailing paradigm).

  • Greed, want, unfulfilled desire.
  •  Jealousy, resentment,
  • Pride, narcissism, bravado
  • Inauthentic, disingenuous phonies, Living to please, needing to fit in. Following the masses
  • Insecurity, self-consciousness
  •  Bigotry, hatred, racism
  • The need to always be right, superiority, self-righteousness
  • Complaining, negativity, gossip, comparing
  •  Inability to forgive, holding grudges, blame
  • Powerlessness, desperation, fear.
  • perfectionism, intolerance, stress.

These are the chains that have us bound to a life sentence of grief and pain. The sad thing is that there is nowhere to point the finger. These conditions are not levied upon us by a court , or a tribunal of our peers. There is no physical structure behind these CHAINS 1barriers yet they are stronger than any cell or dungeon man has ever fashioned. There is no prison break, tunnel, or rope that we can avail ourselves of that will deliver us to freedom. There is nothing that we will find outside of ourselves that will help.  Alexa, Siri, google and all the searches will not find the door.   No device will ever find the way out because it is not something we must find, it is something we must realize. Freedom is a choice.

The choice  is to realEYEs life, to see the world through the real eyes of unconditional love and unity.

pAINA life of freedom may be elusive to most, seem impossible to others and sound very complicated, but truth be told: YES TRUTH, be told, it is the simplest process there is.  True freedom comes from:

  1. authenticity
  2. acceptance & forgiveness
  3. contentment
  4. Self-love
  5. Non judgement
  6.  Service
  7. Unconditional love.
  8. positiveness

When ones thoughts are focused on the above 8 attributes, and trained to see the good and make the most of what they are exposed to, no other condition than freedom can exist. Joy will shroud the individual and cascade outward to affect all who they eMERGEencounter. The process will unfold in exponential components effortlessly with little to no resistance. The really special thing about it is that all that is required to go from point A to B is a decision. The metamorphosis will be instantaneous.  It is an immutable law of the Universe. I’m sure you heard it before: What you sow, so shall you reap. Your thoughts are planting the seeds for what grows into your experience.

Be mindful. Be positive, be loving

Connections, interactions, & relationships

The life we know, interact in and navigate through is both a singular event and a collaborative undertaking. I know, I just contradicted myself. I tend to do that. Life is a series of contradictions, a dichotomy of events and possibilities that feed off each other and cancel each other out. This is exactly why I find it so interesting to write about.

While I would insist that life exists solely in our minds as thought, with everything we believe we are experiencing being created by us, for us, I will also claim that it is the culmination of all the collective thoughts playing out simultaneously, reacting to one another. In short, life is a puzzle we are creating as we go, and all the players we perceive (create) have a vital piece that needs to be inserted in the proper spot for the picture to present flawlessly. We all have a contribution to make to the whole (greater good) and that contribution is designed to serve the others and help thumbnailcavrlgigfacilitate their inclusion in the picture. This requires relationships. There are romantic, work, friend, casual acquaintance, group dynamic, team, and adversarial relationships. All of these forms of human connection are designed to unify the individuals in order to create a collective whole.  So while I may claim I AM “ALL THAT IS”, I will also explain that I need everyone else in order to be. Did I lose you yet?

The purpose of relationship is to make many into 1.  We are supposed to take all of the life we encounter and blend it with our own to create a big ball of JOY! SO; if we shroud ourselves with relationships that are not empowering we will diminish instead of grow. Way too many of us have life partners, friends, family, pals, work partners, and the like that are involved with us because they need to “fix” us, or because we are trying to “help” them. Then there are yet others we are with download (4)because we are afraid to leave, or we feel a sense of responsibility, loyalty or duty, all while they cause us stress and grief. If our relationships are only cemented by need, mutual or one sided, by fear, or responsibility, then they are destructive and run counter to our life purpose of growing in spirit. If you really think you need someone you have given away creative control of your life and everything you experience it predicated on the decisions of another. Then you are no longer an actor, but a reactor. A life of dependency is void of dreams, goals and happy endings.

I would be willing to bet that at least 50% of relationships are toxic, yet solid and long term. That means only half of us are playing the puzzle piece we were given, so the picture of life is largely incomplete. Life needs us, needs you, to play your piece, put it where it belongs and complete the picture. You are a unique individual, and a vital component of the story you are writing. Without you, the event is incomplete.

I urge everyone to take stock of their relationships. Are all of your encounters and interactions empowering, positive and joyful? If not; why are you still there?  None of us needs the other to get us where we are going, (which happens to be right 003where we are now), yet we all need everyone to be who they are for their own reasons, not for the sake of others. We cannot acquiesce to the desires of someone else, or yield to their judgment. We are all unique, we are all enough, we are all important and we are all “ALL THAT IS”
